After months of teasing and leaking, Call of Duty: Warzone has finally been revealed. The new standalone game will be free for all players and will be released on Tuesday March 10 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
While initial speculation indicated that Warzone was a battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it turned out to be a completely separate experience. Warzone will include a new battle royale mode for Call of Duty, for the first time since Black Ops 4 margin Blackout, but it will also include another mode called Plunder.
According to Activision mode, Battlezoneale Battle Royale mode will take place on a huge Verdansk game map, with named areas and more than 300 points of interest, according to Activision. The mode will pit 150 players together and have a team of three.
Plunder Warzone mode will also take place on the Verdansk map, although the number of players who can play in this mode is unclear. In Plunder, players will fight to collect in-game money by depriving it of anywhere on the map. The interesting thing is that the players take their money, so if you defeat the trio of enemies, you can take the money they earn. Players will also have the option of receiving special contracts in Plunder, which appear to be small missions to earn extra money.
The Activision trailer released to advertise Warzone showed a number of vehicles, including helicopters, ATVs, and trucks, on which players could rip the map. It seems that some Modern Warfare cards will be distributed around Warzone as part of the Verdansk card.
Like Modern Warfare, Warzone will have cross-platform gameplay and a unifying process between all of your different accounts. Additionally, all of the cosmetic and custom options that players have unlocked in Modern Warfare, including passes, will go to Warzone as soon as they download the game.
Call of Duty: Warzone was be available for free download on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will be released at 11:00 a.m. EDT on March 10 for all players
